Automotive Primer Coats

The foundation of every quality paint job begins with proper surface preparation. Our automotive primer coats are designed to create a smooth, uniform base that ensures optimal paint adhesion and coverage. Whether you’re preparing bare metal, fiberglass, or previously painted surfaces, our car primer coats provide the essential barrier that protects against corrosion while creating the ideal surface for your topcoat.

Choosing the right base primer makes all the difference in your final results. Our range of HALO Primers includes primers formulated for different substrates and applications, from high-build primer coats that fill minor imperfections to specialized primers for plastic and aluminum. Each product is engineered to enhance durability, improve paint flow, and deliver a professional finish that lasts.

Premium Primer Coats For Automotive

A primer does more than just help paint stick. In Malaysia’s climate, where humidity and heat accelerate rust and surface breakdown, the right primer is the first line of defence against premature corrosion and peeling.

HALO primer coats are formulated to bond reliably across the substrates workshops encounter daily: bare steel, aluminium, galvanised panels, fibreglass, and plastic bumpers. Whether you need the corrosion resistance of an epoxy primer, the build and sandability of a high-build filler primer, or a fast wet-on-wet sealer for spot repairs, HALO has a product mapped to each step of the process.

Choosing The Right HALO Primer For Your Job

HALO’s primer range covers three stages of surface preparation. Here’s how to match the right product to your workflow:

  1. Bare metal and corrosion-prone surfaces: The 2K Epoxy Primer 4:1 is the go-to first coat over bare steel. It provides excellent adhesion, strong chemical resistance, and protects against atmospheric and marine-environment corrosion, critical in Malaysia’s humid conditions. The HALO 2K High Build Primer 4:1 delivers exceptional filling power, fast drying performance with sanding readiness in as little as 30 minutes, and excellent surface levelling. Available in Grey, Black, and White, it provides the perfect foundation for a smoother finish, improved topcoat appearance, and increased workshop productivity.
  2. Panel blending and spot repairs: The 4:1 Transparent Sealer uses a wet-on-wet 2K formula, no sanding required before applying basecoat. It promotes strong intercoat bonding and is purpose-built for panel blends and spot repair work where speed and a clean foundation matter. The Plastic Primer is the specialist option for bumpers and plastic body components, with excellent adhesion and solvent resistance on non-metal surfaces.
  3. 1K Colour Primers: For workshops handling high volumes of standard repair work where a 2K system isn’t required. The LC-P30 series (White, Black, Grey, and Matt Black) are high-opacity, fast-drying single-component primers with good filling power, available in 5L tins.
